Students will begin the year learning the mechanics of all manuscript letters. Initially students will form lowercase letters while learning each letter’s sound. After completing lowercase letters, students will begin forming uppercase letters while reviewing letter sounds. They will use a combination of drawing and dictating to narrate linked events to tell about a story in sequence. The students will learn basic sentence structure and then move on to creating simple sentences beginning with a capital letter and ending with correct punctuation .
