Students will become skilled and confident writers as they learn to develop strong paragraphs through choosing vivid, descriptive words and using sentence variations by forming sentences of different lengths. Lessons break the writing process into manageable chunks that are easy to understand and master. Students will grow in their brainstorming and planning skills, gain confidence in writing creatively and learn new ways to edit and revise their stories and reports. They first learn to write in different fiction genres before moving on to nonfiction and book reports and eventually writing using 5 paragraphs. Students will work through all stages of the writing process: draft, revise, edit, and complete a final copy. Handwriting is also part of this class.
