Students will be using the WriteShop curriculum in this course. WriteShop Primary uses hands-on activities to teach the concepts of the writing process at the very simplest level. It’s perfect for beginning and developing writers. Children continue to see that writing is a process made up of several steps:

Planning. Familiar topics, simple graphic organizers, and teacher guidance help unlock your child’s creative ideas.

Writing. Writing assignments grow from simple paragraphs and stories to more complex ones. Lessons build incrementally, and as children grow in skill and confidence, they are encouraged to become even more independent writers.

Editing. Children continue to see that editing is a natural part of writing.

Handwriting without Tears will also be used and is a handwriting program that will focus on proper punctuation, paragraph, poem and language arts activities for practice.
