The Simplify Writing curriculum focuses on making writing instruction manageable, is evidence-based, and explicitly modeled, offering tools for success each step of the way.  In first grade, students will build foundational writing skills as they apply the writing process across various domains to include but not limited to:  personal narratives, opinion and explanatory pieces, informational texts, and friendly letters.  Grammar and handwriting are naturally embedded in the writing process and are, therefore, another component of this course.  

Handwriting without Tears is a handwriting curriculum that will also be taught in the class.
