Students will engage in additional practice to strengthen their foundational reading and math skills. Students will focus on reading skills on Tuesday and math skills on Thursday.  They will learn and practice reading and spelling skills to improve sight word recognition, decoding and encoding abilities, as well as increasing fluency.  Math activities  will help to increase critical thinking, quick recall, fluency and accuracy with math facts to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These skills will be reinforced using fun and engaging ways, incorporating mnemonics, music, and games. A furry, four legged, “hypo-allergenic” friend will be a frequent visitor in this class.  Studies have shown that dogs in schools have several academic, cognitive, and emotional benefits making this class a “pawsitive” experience for all!
