Students will be using the Simplify Writing curriculum in this course. This curriculum focuses on making writing instruction manageable, is evidence-based, and explicitly modeled, offering tools for success each step of the way.  In Second grade, students will master foundational writing skills as they apply the writing process across various domains to include but not limited to:  personal narratives, literature-based opinion and explanatory pieces, informational texts, and friendly letters.  Grammar and handwriting are naturally embedded in the writing process and are, therefore, another component of this course.  

Handwriting without Tears will also be used as the handwriting curriculum.  Providing letter formation practice.
